The Colts had one heck of a head-scratching season. They beat elite teams including the Seahawks, Broncos and 49ers. They also beat Kansas City decisively in their only meeting of the year. But they also lost some ugly games, including an early one to Miami and an absolute throttling at the hands of the St.Louis Rams. I maintain that Luck is elite, albeit the last of the top five. He definitely has the potential to win this game, and, in my mind, it's his to lose.
Dylan and I at Breaking The Plane (NOT TEX) have called the Chiefs overrated all year. But they do boast a solid defense and a competent offense. Jamaal Charles had an MVP-caliber year and single-handedly destroyed (and made) thousands of Fantasy Football dreams. Alex Smith is a smart QB who, while not good enough to completely take over a game, won't pull a Romo/Eli/Stafford and lose it either. He makes good decisions and smart throws, and is very consistent. Eric Berry has also been a big reason why the Chiefs are in the playoffs and has impressed a lot of NFL fans. This team is not here by mistake, but I just don't see it being enough. The better QB will decide this one at home, and Luck will win his first playoff game of his career.
X-Factor: T.Y. Hilton. Historically, T.Y. is much better in closed roof games, which is exactly what this one will be. We all know that he has big play, game-changing ability, and I expect he and Luck to hook up for at at least a TD.
How great would it be to see a rematch of Luck and Peyton Manning in Denver next week?
Prediction:
Colts 20
Chiefs 16
Colts 20
Chiefs 16

ReplyDeleteJacob Marley: That was the speech?
Robert Marley: It was dumb!
Jacob Marley: It was obvious!
