I am fully prepared to eat my words in Week 2. I mean there are a lot
of ugly looking matchups. With that in mind, here's the breakdown.
PATS/JETS- PATS. I knew this would be an ugly game, bud I didn't think
Geno would have to serve it to Brady on a silver plate in the 4th quarter.
My sleeper pick caught a TD, but also ran a wrong route in the endzone that
left Brady screaming on the bench "HE WAS WIDE $*%&$*% OPEN"
LIONS/CARDS- LIONS. This game fell out of the ugly tree and hit every
freaking branch on the way down. Then it got up and got run over by the
ugly train. Emerging WR Michael Floyd could have a big game against a
very questionable secondary. But other than that, this is Detroit's game
to lose. Reggie Bush made management look genius as he fit the system
like a glove in Week 1. Plenty of weapons for the Lions, they just have
to play 4 Quarters of football and stay disciplined...yeah, that is
asking a lot.
JAGS/RAIDERS- As the Play 60 kid on Twitter said, "I hope
this game is rated PG-13 so my parents don't let me watch it". That
train that ran over the last game just went 2/2. There is simply nothing
else to say here. Shoot, I forgot, I have to pick a team to win. How
about I pick a team to lose instead? Ok, I pick both. Boys, this is my
wash game for the week.
BRONCOS/GIANTS- BRONCOS. Of course I'm
not going to bet against my team, especially when they're this good and
playing a team that's trying to get things together. There is only ONE
way the Giants win this game. Second year RB David Wilson. They need
more offense than their star QB and WR. David Wilson has the potential
to be this year's Doug Martin, and fantasy owners know what that means.
Unfortunately, they also know how much Wilson likes to fumble. Don't get
me wrong, I LOVE this kid's upside. Just not today, against my team
49ERS/SEAHAWKS- SEAHAWKS. My second favorite team is playing at home.
They don't lose at home. That's all you need to know...although this one
should be close. What would I like to see? Kaepernick getting hit by
that train from earlier. Christine Michael getting a chance to show his
magic. Golden Tate catching a bomb from Russell Wilson. Did I mention
seeing Kaepernick getting hit by that train?
CHARGERS/EAGLES-
EAGLES. Quite frankly, I'm surprised Philly is -7 here. I like them to
win, but by a TD? I think Vegas knows something here and it all comes
down to...you got it. Vick.
BROWNS/RAVENS- RAVENS. Cleveland is
going to upset some teams this year, and as a Broncos fan it's obvious I
would love any game the Ravens lose. I just don't see this as one of
them, especially with Josh Gordon serving the second game of his
suspension.
TITANS/TEXANS- TEXANS. This game is my LOCK for the
week. The Titans upset Pitt in the opening week, but that was more
about how inept the Steelers are and less about how good the Titans are.
Don't expect a repeat in Week 2. This is the real coming out party for
DeAndre Hopkins. If you've read any of my articles, you know how high I
am on this kid, who had a solid Week 1 and is poised to improve on those
numbers against a weaker defense. The Titans better hope that their
rookie WR Justin Hunter can help because their RB won't win this game
for them and Locker needs all the help he can get.
DOLPHINS/COLTS- COLTS. This is going to be a very, very interesting
game. The Colts were my lock in Week 1, and why wouldn't they be against
the Raiders? But they struggled. Mightily. I'm not saying they will
struggle all year, and no, Colts fans should not panic yet. But the
Dolphins are obviously a much improved team this year, and could be a
real threat if Lamar Miller could get their running game going.
Tannehill is my #1 Candidate for breakout QB of the year and so far, he
looks good. But not good enough to beat Luck and his band of talented
young guns.
PANTHERS/BILLS- PANTHERS. You want ugly? Here's
some ugly. The Panthers are good enough to beat anyone but can't put 4
solid quarters of football together. The Bills have an elite running
back leading another frustrating team. Look for the best middle
linebacker in football (Yes, Luke!) to bring absolute destruction in
this one.
RAMS/FALCONS- FALCONS. Yes, they lost Week 1. Yes,
they may be overrated. But they are still a very strong football team
with the top WR tandem, a solid running game and a Top 10 QB. On the
other hand we have the Rams, who have a lot of players who could break
out this year, including top rookie WR Tavon Austin, alongside second
year talents like Givens and Quick. Bradford can make it happen, but I
don't think it will be today.
SKINS/PACKERS- PACKERS. Green Bay
is going to get stronger and stronger as the season goes on. Forget
Rodgers. They have my boy Randall Cobb! Throw in a decent running game
for the first time in years and a decent defense and this is a scary
football squad. RG3 and Alfred Morris struggled in Week 1, and I think
that will continue today. I do like Leonard Hankerson. Not like I like
A.J. Green or Calvin Johnson. I just like him for a Skins receiver.
COWBOYS/CHIEFS- COWBOYS. Here is my upset for the week. The Boys are 3
point dogs, but I'll take them. Dez is set to have a monster year. If
Demarco Murray, who had a good first game, can stay healthy, they will
have a beastly running game. Morris Claiborne is now a second year
player and gets better every game. I like this team this year, despite
their QB.
VIKINGS/BEARS- BEARS. I love it. A divisional matchup
that will have plenty of ugly. The Vikings don't have a QB. The Bears
have one who will show a lot of improvement with the new coaching, but
remains a real headcase. The Bears have a strong set of WRs including
emerging star Alshon Jeffery. And obviously, Chicago has a MUCH better
defense. That said, I can't use this game as my lock. The Bears know how
to blow games and Minnesota does have one good player...
SAINTS/BUCS- SAINTS. Saints all the way. Brees and Co. are playing much,
much better than they were last year. The Bucs are not. Doug Martin is
not good enough to win this game by himself. With even more weapons,
Brees can do what he does best...spread the ball around real nice like,
sprinkle in a few long bombs and BAM. Saints win.
STEELERS/BENGALS- BENGALS. If I could have a second lock, this would be
it. Pitt lost to the Titans. Cincy is very much improved, and for anyone
panicking that they lost in Week 1, realize how much better Chicago is
this year when Cutler isn't pouting. Dalton, A.J., Eifert,
Bernard, Sanu, and a strong defense. Bengals for the W.
