Dylan's Week 9 Picks

Week 9 Picks

I was 9-5 last week, but at least I hit my lock.  The games this week look more straightforward, so hopefully I'll have a better showing.  Here we go.....

Chiefs at Chargers:  CHARGERS.  I correctly called this one on TNF, although I didn't think SD would win by THAT much.  It was a nice win for them, and a good start to my week of picks.

Broncos at Bengals:  BRONCOS.  Peyton has the offense going, and the defense has been stepping it up lately as well.  The Bengals are falling apart, and Denver will take this game by at least two touchdowns.

Ravens at Browns:  RAVENS.  Look for this to be really close, though.  The Ravens are hurting on defense, and they struggled to put their Browns away in their first meeting.  Now Joe Haden is back, and the Browns are a much better team than in their last meeting.  I still can't pick against the Ravens here, but it should be a close one in Cleveland.

Cardinals at Packers:  PACKERS.  Green Bay has Aaron Rodgers, Arizona has John Skelton.  Do I need to add anything else?

LOCK:  Bills at Texans:  TEXANS.  I will lock the Texans at home against most teams, let alone the Bills and their porous defense.  This one will get ugly early.

WASH:  Dolphins at Colts:  DOLPHINS.  I have struggled to pick both of these teams this season, and now they're playing each other.  I'll just take the Vegas favorite and wash it away this week.

Lions at Jaguars:  LIONS.  The Jags will definitely be without their two starting cornerbacks, and possibly without their 3rd string as well.  Look for Matthew Stafford to have a field day, and for Calvin Johnson to have his best game of the season as none of the cornerbacks playing with have the height or athleticism to cover him.

Bears at Titans:  BEARS.  This will be another ugly game.  The Titans could only put up 13 points against the porous defense of the Colts - if it was possible to put negative points on the board, the Titans would find a way this week against the top scoring defense in the NFL.

UPSET:  Panthers at Redskins:  PANTHERS.  I'm pretty surprised that the Panthers are 3-point underdogs this week since they have been in so many games against good teams this season.  They should be 5-2 instead of 1-6 right now, but just found ways to lose leads against the Falcons, Seahawks, Cowboys, and Bears.  The Panthers are way better than their record, and have the firepower to pick 6 or 7 games in a row.  Unfortunately, their season is virtually shot already because of all the leads they've blown in the second half this year.

Bucs at Raiders:  BUCS.  I don't know how the Raiders are the favorites here.  Look at the Bucs to take it by at least a TD.

Vikings at Seahawks:  SEAHAWKS.  The Vikings will certainly forget how to play football as all teams do when they travel to Seattle.  This will be ugly and low-scoring, but the Seahawks will win.

Steelers at Giants:  GIANTS.  The G-men are due for a loss, but I think that will come in a game that they are heavy-favored to win (in true Giants fashion).  A lot of writers are calling a Steelers upset, and the Giants tend to play well when they perceive that they aren't getting the respect that they deserve.  The Steelers' suspect o-line will lose this one as the Giants' front four will wreak havoc in the backfield.

Cowboys at Falcons:  FALCONS.  My gut tells me that the 'Boys will pull off the upset here, especially since it's in prime time; however, I've picked against the Falcons so many times this season that I have to give them their due and take them at home this week.

Eagles at Saints:  SAINTS.  Both teams are in shambles, but the Eagles are in worse shape.  If Vick can't put up points against this horrible Saints' defense, I think he hits the bench for the rest of the years.

Last week: 9-5
Season record: 66-52
Points: 8

The Giants will defend their home turf against the Steelers this week.
