Dustin's Week 12 Picks

Ugh, it's Week 12 of the NFL season already!  Why does it have to go so fast?!?!?!  Anyways, we've got a great slate of games coming up on Sunday.  Here's what I think is going to happen:

LOCK Saints at Falcons:  Saints.  Wow.  This one was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay closer than it should've been.  I was expecting the Saints to put up at least 30 points in this game (heck, the Bucs put up 41 against the Falcons), so I'm starting to have some doubts about the Saints dominance, especially with Carolina at their heels.

Jets at Ravens:  Jets.  All I can say it's the Jets' turn to win this week.  And I seriously don't know what to make of the Ravens.

Steelers at Browns:  Steelers.  I liked what I saw out of the Steelers last week against a fairly decent Lions defensive squad.  Browns jumped out to an early last week but looked helpless as the Bengals turned the game around into a rout.  If Roethlisberger can duplicate his performance from last week, I think the Steelers pull this one out easily.

Bucs at Lions:  Lions.  Bucs have a good 2 game winning streak going and if Rainey can have another monster day then maybe the Bucs will have a chance.  However, I think the Lions have too many weapons on offense to let this game slip away from them.

Vikings at Packers:  Packers.  This one will be interesting.  The Aaron Rodgers-less Packers are 0-3, but they're going up against the lousy Vikings.  The Vikings will have to utilize AP extensively.  He is their key to winning this game.  Otherwise, I think the Packers grab this one.

Jaguars at Texans:  Texans.  There has been a little voice in my head all week saying that the Jaguars might have a chance in this one.  They won two weeks ago and were competitive for the first half (definitely not the second, though) against the Cardinals, so I see upset potential here.  The Texans have been finding ways to lose all year, but this would just be the ultimate slap in the face if they dropped this one as well.

Chargers at Chiefs:  Chiefs.  I think the Chiefs defense will get back on track this week against a Chargers offense struggling for consistency.  In all honesty, the way the Chargers have been playing this year, they have the ability to beat anyone, but also lose to anyone.  They are incredibly difficult to predict.

Panthers at Dolphins:  Panthers.  I am so pumped about the Panthers recent performance that I'm starting to become a cautious believer.  However, I do see this as trap game (yes, Admiral Akbar, it is a trap . . . ) since the Dolphins have beaten some quality opponents.  I really hope the Panthers don't fall into the trap.

Bears at Rams:  Bears.  Ewwww.  That's all can say about having to pick this game.  The Bears seem to be faring fine with Josh McCown at the helm instead of Jay Cutler, so I'm giving them the win in this one.  But then again . . . what if the Rams come out and slaughter them like they did the Colts?

WASH Colts and Cardinals:  Cardinals.  I didn't actually realize how interesting of game this will be until I recently watched an NFL.com video about it.  The Colts are faltering and the Cardinals seem like they're finally getting things together.  I really like what I've seen from Andre Ellington, and I think his prescence in the run game has really opened things up for the Cardinals passing attack.  The Colts, on the other hand, SERIOUSLY need to rebound from an embarassing loss to the Rams.  Can Luck turn things around?

Titans at Raiders:  Raiders.  I really liked what I saw from Mark McGloin last week against Houston.  It's an overlooked fact that the Texans have the statistically best defense in the league.  The only problem with their defense is that they tend to give up a lot of points, and that could partially be because the offense keeps turning the ball over and giving the opponent short fields.  So, long story short, I think McGloin played extremely well against a capable defense, so I'm expecting his success to continue against the Titans.

UPSET Cowboys at Giants:  Cowboys.  I CANNOT believe the Giants are favored in this game!!!  Let's look at who the Giants have beaten in this W4 streak:  Vikings, Eagles (without Foles),  Raiders, and Packers (without Rodgers).  I will admit that the Giants defense has played significantly better during this winning streak, and the Giants actually looked good against the Packers (however, the other 3 wins, they kind of just limped to victory).  I can see the potential for the Giants to pull this one off, but I think the Cowboys are angry over getting humiliated by the Saints and will therefore take it out on the Giants.  However, if the Giants pull this one out, they are 2ND PLACE IN THE DIVISION!!!  WHAT THE HECK?!?!?!?!?!?!

Broncos at Patriots:  Broncos.  Let's face it.  This game is only getting publicity because it's Manning vs Brady again.  However, I don't think it will be a contest this time around.  The Bronocs are just the better team.  The Patriots got torched by Cam Newton last week in the passing game, and Manning is waaaaaaaaaaay better than Cam Newton (purely as a passer).  The only way the Patriots have a chance is if they can respond blow to blow with the Broncos offense, but I don't think the Patriots offense is clicking enough quite yet to accomplish that.

49ers at Redskins:  49ers.  Colin Kaepernick has definitely had a rough season.  But so has RGIII.  However, the 49ers defense is FAR superior to the Redskins defense.  Look for Kaepernick to have a field day against the Redskins defense.
