Week 14: THAT week...

By Dave Schefke (@daveschefke9 on Twitter)

If you stumbled out of the bar and decided it would be smart to bet NFL games, you probably did well last week. I will say it was extremely entertaining, but started innocently with my beloved Broncos taking care of business and covering a large spread on the road against Oakland. After that, well, let's just say things got a little more interesting. A few games went exactly the way most people would have predicted, so I'll omit those. Here are my highlights, good and bad, that made last week "THAT week."

GIANTS/SAINTS- What a dumb game. 52 points and Eli throws for UNDER 290 yards? David Wilson out of the doghouse running like he stole something? Maybe he was running from Tom Coughlin. "Wilson!!!! Get back here and give me that football!!" "No, coach, I hate the bench!!! I promise I won't fumble the ball twice in the same run, just watch!" Football somehow doesn't feel right though when you watch the Saints get destroyed over and over when they're supposed to be making a push for the postseason.

SEAHAWKS/CARDINALS- 58-0???????? First of all, that never happens in the National Football League. Secondly, I honestly thought Seattle was incapable of scoring more than 24 to maybe 28 points in a game. The Cardinals have scored a total of 6 points in their last 2 FULL GAMES? What else can you say? This was enough to make me break my golden rule: my money is on the Lions in week 15. Getting in early at -3 is a lock, and I put more on when the line went all the way to -6 and finally 6.5. One TD? Shouldn't be a problem. I know we're talking about the Lions who just find laughable ways to lose, but the Arizona Cardinals are playing like they don't belong in the NFL.

PATS/TEXANS- The line opened at -3.5 NE. We didn't bet it. Seemed too risky. As the line went ALL THE WAY TO -6, we thought about what was going on...smelt like Vegas was thinking possible blowout? Or did EVERYONE bet NE at the start? Either way, we hoped for the blowout, stacked at -6, and crushed it. Thank you, Tom Brady and Aaron Hernandez, for destroying a top 5 team...all is forgiven for soiling yourselves against Miami.

RAMS/BILLS- What game ends 15-12? lol

PANTHERS/FALCONS- We at the Ehle House have been pounding the Falcons for a while now and were justified Sunday as they were destroyed single-handedly by Cam Newton. For betters, these truly were the Dirty Birds.

BENGALS/COWBOYS- I know Tex is going to go off on how the Cowboys are the best team in the NFL and all that nonsense, but I was shocked when Tony Romo and the Boys took care of business on the road against one of the hottest teams in the NFL who are fighting for a playoff spot. But lest we forget, these are the Dallas Cowboys we're talking about and something has to get screwed up...that came in the form of rookie standout Morris Claiborne and star WR Dez Bryant. Dez hurt? I'd bet his mom isn't the one taking care of him ;) If those guys are out, the Boys have less than 0 chance of making the dance.

BROWNS/CHIEFS- I know it's the Chiefs and all, and they have been playing better football of late (as if they could have been doing any worse... oh wait...@Arizona Cardinals) Anyway, who would have thought that Brandon Weeden would be on a 3 game winning streak? Well done, good sir, I don't even care that you're a 51 year old rookie.

JETS/JAGS- Chad Henne is back to his old self. I honestly thought the Jags would win this one at home. Oh, well. Nobody really cared about this game. Why did I mention this one?

VIKINGS/BEARS- Minny wins!! Adrian Peterson = Absolutely unstoppable. 154 yards was low after what he started out with. The Bears are in deep trouble. The only bright spot for me? A TD for my boy! Great to see Alshon Jeffery back and healthy. A lot of people don't know how good this kid is. He'll be a huge part of their offense for years to come. And kneeling and making the sign of the cross for his "TD celebration? Love it...still trying to figure out Aaron Hernandez' TD Dance..."grab turf...create magic cauldron and stir giant pot of ANNIHILATE HOUSTON-NESS!"

STEELERS/CHARGERS- LOL @Big Ben. Chargers had NEVER won a regular season game in Pittsburgh. That's right...0-14. They got destroyed. D gave up 34 points against Philip Rivers??? He's got nothing to lose I guess...except ANOTHER game, but not this one somehow.

BUCS/EAGLES- That's my boy!!! The reason I endured weeks of mocking! Nick Foles is the real deal. This kid is smart and has pinpoint accuracy. He beat a legit team and is more proof that we have been blessed with an outstanding crop of rookie QBs this year. Good to see the Eagles win one. But Tampa losing a must win for their playoff hopes? Weak.

REDSKINS/RAVENS- The Ravens are so overrated it's not even funny. Haha, wait, yes it is. We all hope RG3 will be back soon, but how about MSU's pride and joy? Not only did Cousins throw the TD but also the 2 pointer afterwards. Fundamentally strong, his guy can be a legit QB who's stuck behind the hottest rookie in the NFL. Will be interesting to see what he does if RG3 is out for any amount of time.
